My name is Lindsey Provencher and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in Southern California.
I went to college in New England, graduate school in Los Angeles, and spent several summers studying culture and language in Spain. I love exploring the world and connecting with people from all walks of life.
My goal in life as well as in therapy sessions is to be open-minded, understanding, empathetic, and genuine. Everyone deserves to feel connected and safe to be themselves. I am a natural overthinker/analytical mind, making me gravitate initially toward cognitive-behavioral techniques.
However, through experience and my own work, I’ve realized collaboration of cognitive-behavioral with mindfulness, meditation, and visualization can lead to the greatest results. I really try to acknowledge and support the growth of the whole person: mind, body, and soul.
In order to be a good therapist, it requires doing personal work and taking care of oneself. As a parent, my life has changed tremendously over the past few years, but I manage to take time to do the things I need and enjoy: exercise, yoga, breathwork, long walks (with coffee in hand), Spanish classes, hiking, traveling, listening to podcasts and audiobooks, and connecting with supportive people. Although these are my hobbies (and necessities for staying sane), I am often able to use my skills and interests to connect with clients and understand their struggles and successes.
I began my career working with college students and athletes then progressed to working with staff in the education system, people struggling with addiction, busy professionals, and people in the pregnancy/postpartum stage of life. Life can be overwhelming, crazy, and unpredictable, but I can assure you, I’ve seen and heard A LOT. I am so grateful for each and every one of these experiences.
